If you recently found out you are pregnant, you may be considering an abortion. In that case, it is very important that you inform yourself about the various types of procedures, as well as the associated risks. The staff at Women’s Resource Center can help you gather that information, and discuss its potential implications as it regards to your personal situation. Our goal is to not just provide information, but give you a caring, supportive atmosphere in which you will feel comfortable.
An abortion is a medical procedure performed with the intent to terminate a pregnancy. There are two main abortion methods: an in-clinic, surgical procedure, and an out-of-clinic medical procedure, commonly referred to as the abortion pill. The method chosen can change patient to patient and is chosen based on how far along a given pregnancy is. This is usually determined by having an ultrasound performed.
A surgical abortion procedure is performed within the first or second trimester of a pregnancy. The abortion pill procedure, by comparison, is only an option within the first few weeks after conception. Of course, both types of abortion come with their own specific risks, which makes it all the more important to learn the facts before proceeding with the pregnancy termination. It is recommended that you give yourself the necessary time to think about your options and decisions before making a final choice.
